The definition "best" is so subjective. The educational world is full of slogans that promise the best future for your child, the best version of yourself, or the pursuit of the best. Regardless of whether a university is as famous as Harvard or not, the best university has to meet your personal needs. Your best university is perhaps simply the one that is well located, secure, affordable, and aligned to your specialty. But to simplify the start, we have compiled a list of the supposedly 10 best universities in Germany as well as some information you should pay attention to in the selection.

The QS Universities Rankings Rankings are a good for Study in Germany , recommended starting point to compare universities in general criteria. The QS rankings are based on an established ranking mechanism from 2004 and evaluate over 3,800 universities to finally show a ranking of 900 universities. It evaluates the university in terms of teaching, research, labor marketability and internationalization. The results are then summarized in six performance indicators: Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Student and Teacher Relationship, Quotations per Faculty, Internationality Rate of the Faculty, and Students. 1

German universities have traditionally performed well in university rankings. This is not a big surprise as Germany has a high standard of living, a good economy, a central position in Europe and low study fees. We have reviewed the QS rankings for German universities and were positively surprised that Munich's two largest universities landed in the top two places. Heidelberg and Kassel's famous universities are ranked 3rd and 4th. These top 4 universities are also among the top 100 universities in the QS World University Ranking. Overall, this is a fairly solid result for the reputation of German universities.
